Course Description:
The course is designed for the adult students who have already had the knowledge of Hanyu
Pinyin, and finished the learning of Lesson 1 to Lesson 7 of Conversational Chinese 301, or are in
equivalent Chinese level.
The course will cover Lesson 8 to Lesson 20 of the textbook. The focuses are: 1) conversational
Chinese; 2) discussions about Chinese culture related topics; 3) basic Chinese grammars;
including basic sentence structures, particles, modal verbs, and so forth; 4) basic Chinese character
recognition and writing.
Assignment:
The main assignments include:
1) Chinese character writing homework. (will be assigned after each week’s class)
2) Speaking practice.
Grading:
1. Chinese character writing homework --- 40%
2. Final Exam ---- 60%
