Harvest Moon Society $10,000 to support the construction of new sustainable structures, including a community compost centre, by redeveloping an abandoned building. HaulAway & More $8,000 to undertake a pilot project intended to provide an environmentally sound way of disposing washout water from building projects and support the study of the effects of this waste water on the environment. Manitoba Composting Association $3,000 to support the creation of a website to share compost-related information, events and research activities. Rossburn Elementary School $4,293 to begin composting with worms to produce compost for the school garden. Rural Municipality of Rossburn $5,500 to support regional waste planning for the communities within the Riding Mountain Biosphere. Rural Municipality of South Norfolk $9,000 to support the construction of a recycling depot to enhance the community’s waste-diversion strategies. Stars of Promise $5,000 to demonstrate the use of recycled rubber as a playground surface. Town of Snow Lake $10,000 to support the purchase of recycling trailers to strengthen recycling services in the community. Winnipeg Folk Festival $5,000 to support the festival’s expansion of its post-consumer food waste composting and active transportation programs. Wood Anchor $25,000 to support a multi-phased approach to reclaim wood waste destined for landfills to make flooring and build furniture.
