machine translation project, including WordNet, Oxford Dictionary, and a large Corpus
Description of Role on Previous Project: Performed lexical Transfer of all lexical terminology
in all language registers; developed and handled the lexical database of a machine translation
engine based on the indirect, extensive linguistic knowledge approach; classified the lexical
database according to a semantic feature-based system (decompositional approach);
subcategorized the various parts of speech of the lexical database in order to use it within the
semantic parsing module; tested various modules of the machine translation system including
lexical database handling, lexical transfer and translation, and detecting the problems that occur
within the parsing module; and performed technical writing including preparing help files for
software developed by the company. Supervised, trained, and orientated 11 linguists throughout
the process of machine translation program development, including training them on lexical
taxonomy; syntactic, morphological, and lexical subcategorization; and lexical transfer through
preparing presentation and training materials and holding meetings.
Achievements: Participated in developing a machine translation tool, supervised a team of 11
linguists, participated in developing a parser tool and a bilingual corpus, participated in
preparing a huge language database, and participated in performing subcategorization and
taxonomical categorization of all lexical items.
