AAPS Graduate Student Research Awards in Formulation Design and Development Sponsored by The FDD Section of AAPS, through the generosity of Bristol-Myers Squibb is pleased to announce the Graduate Student Research Awards in Formulation Design and Development. This program is designed to recognize excellence in graduate education in the FDD areas, including pre-formulation, biopharmaceutics, formulation strategies and technologies, and manufacturing process optimization. The FDD section of AAPS supports the continuation of excellence in education in this multidisciplinary field that draws upon the physical, chemical, biological and engineering sciences. Note: There are no citizenship requirements for this award. All interested candidates are encouraged to apply. Your research can be submitted to only one AAPS graduate student research committee for consideration. Nomination Requirements 1. You must submit your abstract at http://abstracts.aapspharmaceutica.com/aaps2015 in accordance with AAPS Call for Papers guidelines. Failure to do so will eliminate you from consideration 2. A summary (1,000 words or less including tables/figures) that will provide the selection committee with information to evaluate your thesis research on the basis of (a) contribution to the area of research represented, i.e., why was the work important and what new knowledge was derived with data to support claims; (b) novelty and originality of the research; (c) the specialty areas of laboratory research used in the thesis program; (d) summary of overall results and conclusion; and, (e) further studies proposed to build on the knowledge derived. Summaries longer than three (3) pages will not be considered. 3. Nominations must indicate acknowledgment of any financial support received which enabled the research to be conducted. 4. Electronic submission of the application form and all supporting materials must be submitted as a single pdf file to awards@aaps.org by June 10, 2015. A Microsoft Word file will be acceptable if pdf capability is not available. The award name must be included in the subject line of your email. FAXED OR MAILED APPLICATIONS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED. Selection Procedures Students in their final year of graduate studies leading to their Ph.D. degree (or have been awarded the Ph.D. degree in 2015) are urged to apply. Applicants in one of the above or associated fields of study may be nominated by their Ph.D. thesis advisor on the enclosed nomination form. On the basis of submitted abstracts and summaries, students will be selected to present their research and recognized during the AAPS Annual Meeting and Exposition. Selection will be made on the basis of those students judged by the committee to have provided the most outstanding contributions in the above fields through their graduate research. Each student selected will receive a plaque, cash award of $250.00 and a complimentary Annual Meeting registration. In addition, travel expenses will be reimbursed (maximum $1,000 domestic/$1,500 international) following the meeting.
