In this case, the translator receives the message from the
French prime minister (in French), then translates it to English, and
send it through the telephone line to the destination telephone.
The translator receives the message from the telephone then
translates that English message to Chinese, and finally sends to
the Chinese prime minister.
b. Now suppose that the French prime minister has a German
translator available, but the Chinese does not. Given that a
German-Chinese translator is available in Germany.

In this situation, the FG Translator translates the message
received from French to German and sends to CG Translator in
Germany through a telephone line. The CG Translator translates
that German message to Chinese, and then it uses another
telephone line to send the translated message to the Chinese
prime minister. This case involves two telephone lines since the
CG Translator is not available in the Chinese prime minister’s
location.
