Using translators is plagiarism because the work isn’t
yours. Even though the sentences you wrote in English are
yours the sentences that are translated do not belong to you
because you didn’t produce them from your own brain. Using
an online translator is plagiarism because in this course you are
being tested on how much you know in French and if you just
translate everything then you don’t know any French.
You can use a translator to help you with words or to
check on phrases that you are uncertain about but you should
understand everything that you take from a translator and put
on your paper when you write it down and any time after that.
Using a translator isn’t always plagiarism but is if you are
copying down things that you don’t understand.
