Application for Peer Conduct Board 2012-13 Thank you for applying for a position on the Fairfield University Peer Conduct Board. The Peer Conduct Board serves the very important function of enabling students to undertake the responsibility of self-discipline and self-governance in the area of student conduct. The Peer Conduct Board serves as an arm of the Office of the Dean of Students and is authorized by that office to serve as a student conduct hearing body for violations of the Student Code of Conduct. The Peer Conduct Board also acts as the Parking Appeal Board for the Department of Public Safety. The Peer Conduct Board provides an opportunity for students to serve the University community, develop lifelong skills in facilitating and resolving conflicts, and promote civility and citizenship within the Fairfield University community. As a member of the Peer Conduct Board, you will be helping to promote honesty, independence, accountability, and respect within your community. This is an excellent leadership opportunity for all students; those interested in law and adjudication processes, but also students interested in community approaches to dispute resolution. Criteria and expectations for members of the Peer Conduct Board are as follows: • Be in good standing with the University • Full-time undergraduate student • Minimum GPA of 2.5 • Cannot be a Resident Assistant (RA) • Must be available for all meetings, which occur primarily on Sunday nights, but may be scheduled at alternate times when necessary and appropriate • Become knowledgeable about all aspects of the Student Conduct Code • Attend all mandatory training sessions • Conduct oneself in a trustworthy, professional, and confidential manner • Recommend reasonable, fair, and educational sanctions when appropriate Please complete the following application and return it by Friday, April 20, 2012 via e-mail to the Office of the Dean of Students at knickolenko@fairfield.edu or return it to the Office of the Dean of Students located on the fourth floor of the Barone Campus Center, Room 408. The interview team will make recommendations to the Office of the Dean of Students and that office will make the final selection (in addition to providing all training and support).
