A man should make his mark and leave a legacy for the next generation – Robin without doubt did just that!! A dairy farmer from his youth and then falling in love with Bazadaise cattle to which he initially crossed on his Friesian type dairy cows breeding excellent cross suckler cows and beef bulls. Robin together with Gill embarked on increasing the sucklers and as the dairying ceased on the farm the Pedigree and cross breds thrived and Robin travelled far and wide banging the Bazadaise Drum – Robin Smith was Mr Bazadaise. Robin was always the same, always loved a leg pull and always had a smile on his face. He loved it when a Bazadaise topped the market, which he did on numerous occasions and would give the Limousin breeders who he had knocked off the top spot a cheeky smile. I had the honour of conducting the Smiths most recent Production Sale and again Robin was very upbeat and easy to deal with. Even in the face of extreme ill health and facing a risky operation Robin was again laughing and joking and an inspiration to all and certainly many could do with adopting his attitude. Robin will be extremely missed by all his friends and family and the agricultural community, but his legacy lives on and his mark truly stamped. He leaves the farm in the very capable hands of Edwina and Marcus and wife Gill who we send our deepest sympathy and Best Wishes at this sad and difficult time.
