An exciting Temporary Full-Time (1 year contract) opportunity as a Research Assistant exists in the Osteoporosis Research Program, reporting to the Research Associate. Summary of Duties, but not limited to: The Research Assistant will act as an integral team member of the Multidisciplinary Osteoporosis Research Program, directed by Clinician Scientist Dr. Sophie A. Jamal. The Research Assistant will report directly to the team’s Research Associate, and will be responsible for assisting with the day-today management of a large Randomized Controlled Trial, as well as completing administrative tasks for the Clinician Scientist. Specific responsibilities will include: Research (40%) o Making monthly patient follow up calls o Booking and confirming appointments o Assisting with patient visits o Dispensing study medications o Maintaining an inventory of study supplies o Entering data and maintaining spreadsheets o Conducting literature searches Administrative (60%) o Assisting in document preparation (i.e. editing, proofreading and formatting manuscripts and grants) o Updating the Clinician Scientist’s Curriculum Vitae & Teaching Dossier o Preparing Teaching Activity and Department of Medicine Reports o Coordinating the Clinician Scientist’s schedule (i.e. making travel & meeting arrangements, updating personal organizer) o Making photocopies, sending faxes and assisting with other office duties The responsibilities described above are representative and are not to be construed as all-inclusive. Qualifications/Skills: University or College education preferred and experience in an academic research based environment an asset Outstanding written and verbal communication skills Excellent organizational and administrative skills with attention to detail Strong knowledge in internet-based research and well developed skills using Microsoft Office Ability to work well in a deadline-oriented and team-based environment Strong multi-tasking, time and project management skills This position plays a critical role in acting as an advocate for safety and will demonstrate principles, practices and processes that will optimize a safe environment for all.
