Service and industrial companies established in the park. - Engineering company. Expertise in design and management of industrial parks. - R&D centre. Expertise in energy efficiency in industrial processes Brief project description : Objective: The main objective of this project consists in a significant CO2 emissions reduction from almost 3 existing European industrial parks through an energy joint action of the companies implemented in them. Background of the project: Nowadays from an energy efficiency point of view, the usual industrial park concept is a set of individual actions from individual companies. This causes to waste synergies in individual efforts to reduce each company CO2 emissions. Interesting options are also discarded by scale reasons. One interesting option could be to consider industrial park as a global energy manager for all the energy consumed in the different companies. In this scenario, process integration may be possible as well as combine heat/electricity provision. District heating, cogeneration, renewable energies implementation and waste energy recovery could be options to increase global energy efficiency in industrial parks. It may also be interesting to promote synergies between companies with joining of services such as transport, utilities, water management, waste management… Previous knowledge of the situation is required to develop these action plans. This involves getting information about current energy uses and sources, utilities, logistics, mobility plans... of the industrial park itself as well as each company. Expected results, lead users, exploitation and dissemination plan: Action plans and methodology will be developed in order to improve energy efficiency in European industrial parks. The methodology and action plan could be directly applicable to other industrial sites with similar characteristics. A best available energy management model will be developed. With the action plan implementation, energy consumption would be reduced 10% in the whole industrial park and it would be a 5% reduction rather than the option of companies’ individual action plans. Phases of work: WP 1. European industrial park situation benchmarking. WP 2. Individual companies’ analysis. Energy uses and sources analysis. WP 3. Global industrial park analysis (case study): utilities, services, logistics, mobility plans ... studies. WP 4. Action plan proposal. Individual opportunities with a few companies involved, as well as entire industrial park actions. WP 5. Development of low carbon industrial park best available energy management model. WP 6. Dissemination and implementation of the action plan developed for an industrial park (case study). 2.)
