JUSTICE Student Network Fellow About us JUSTICE is an all-party law reform and human rights organisation working to strengthen the justice system – administrative, civil and criminal – in the United Kingdom. Our vision is of fair, accessible and efficient legal processes, in which the individual's rights are protected, and which reflect the country's international reputation for upholding and promoting the rule of law. We are a membership organisation, largely of legal professionals. What we do We carry out research and analysis to generate, develop and evaluate ideas for law reform. In doing so, we draw on evidence, experience and expertise from the United Kingdom and across the world We intervene in superior domestic and international courts, sharing our research, analysis and arguments with courts to support their work and promote strong and effective legal judgments We promote a better understanding of the fair administration of justice among decision-makers and public servants We bring people together to discuss critical issues about the justice system, and to provide a thoughtful legal framework to policy debates The role The Student Network Fellow will support the JUSTICE Student Network website and increase our engagement with students and universities. The successful candidate will earn London Living Wage (£17,108 per annum pro rata). The role is part time (3 days per week) for six months. There is a possibility to extend for a further six months. The role focuses on developing informative and innovative content on our website, building a programme of events for students, building membership of the JSN and student membership of JUSTICE, and working with our legal team to find ways for students to support JUSTICE’s work. Over time, we expect our student membership to grow with the support of this post. The role also includes a strong IT and communications component, in addition to an understanding of public law. Job description Website and communications - Responsibility for content updates and development of the student section of the website. - Leading on updating students via social media. - Build and maintain relevant contacts with universities and other student organisations. - Supporting the Membership and Communications Coordinator in profile raising events. Membership - Assisting with management of the students members on the database - Conceiving, arranging and executing student events. - With the Membership and Communications Coordinator, producing interesting and timely communications with students. - With the Membership and Communications Coordinator, leading efforts to convert student human rights network members into full JUSTICE student members. - With the Fundraising Manager, finding ways for students to support The Securing JUSTICE at 60 Appeal. Policy work - With the Director of Human Rights Policy, work on engagement of the student membership in our policy work, including designing, drafting and managing policy content for the student section of the website. - As required, coordinating groups of students to support JUSTICE’s policy work. Person specification Essential A law degree at Bachelor or Masters level Experience of website content management Excellent IT skills Excellent written and spoken communication skills Excellent organisational skills and the ability to work to tight deadlines An interest in social justice and human rights issues Desirable Experience of database management Experience in summarising and editing text for website/email distribution
