I visited Hazelhurst Gallery on that dreadfully wet Tuesday 13 May last! I always enjoy my visits here,
however I have a few comments to make:
 information at main reception desk was well meaning but inadequate.
 Staff volunteers at both desks munching on stacked plates of food!
 Dirty cups, plates etc. left on long tables in cafe nearest to photography exhibition rather offputting (there for over one hour). All a bit unprofessional, really.
 Also no press reviews were on display and none available when I asked reception.
Ps. I do a lot of volunteering too. Thank you for the opportunity to comment.
Did notice Community Gallery walls need to be properly painted. Possibly another coat of paint
(evenly done).
It is a beautiful place, the surrounds and the buildings. It is so peaceful.
It is so good and interesting it is the best around. I loved it so much the people are so helpful and
nice. Thank you.
Perhaps you could have some artist demonstrations.
Exhibitions from the local TAFE and schools.
Always feel welcome here - good environment, and enjoy the exhibitions of local artists, particularly
photographers. Grounds are beautiful.
The café overall is great, but it is very noisy, because of the bare floors and walls. This is a Problem
for older people with hearing problems. Sound sort of echoes.
Very pleasant.
I think it is a most pleasant place to visit. If I were local, I’d certainly do an art class. Café is noisy.
More workshops - writing - poetry. More class availability/variety, eg. brolga scupltures. More
permanent paintings/photographs/sculptures on display. Publish a regular newsletter/paper.
Regular local community radio broadcasts. More promotion through schools, cinemas.
Sculptures in the gardens. Music in the gardens on Sundays. Friendship clubs as well as art clubs.
Plays at twilight in gardens eg. like tartarla players, Italy. Thanks for the beautiful gallery and gardens.
More garden seats please. Cafe could serve wedges between 3-4pm as well.
Very pleasing and interesting. Not qualified to offer changes.
It is a wonderful place just to be in - the gardens are inspirational!
How can you improve on perfect!
Perhaps some kind of protection for stall and walking during wet weather.
Sculpture classes needed on other days of the week. I came here two weeks ago to pick up an entry
form for art on paper competition. There were none. My name was taken with the promise of sending
one to me. This has still not been received!
It's a great combination of facilities and a beautiful setting. You are picking up exhibitions from the
Illawarra now that Project is gone - promote yourself more down there, they are desperate for some
culture.
I think Hazelhurst is a wonderful place.
Great for displaying large work of art, great eating, great outlook on park.
I liked the idea of the galleries all looking on one easily accessible deck. The surroundings of the
gallery are magnificent - an island of peace and beauty.
Very up market, professional, friendly.
Service at restaurant was inflexible. We wanted a coffee at a time when there were very few people
in the restaurant. We were not allowed to sit outside and all that was offered was a table in the far
corner away from the window. We left and went elsewhere and may not come back next time.
Very relaxed environment in a big city - lovely gardens - art displays - lovely food and a great place to
bring visitors from interstate.
It has changed a lot to a better place.
Very good - a top class place.
Hazelhurst provides a meditative atmosphere, good for the soul, and is a place one can lose track of
thoughts and time plus relax. Thank you for providing the community service.
I think Hazelhurst is a nice place, because it has an art gallery, art lessons and a Cafe.

Current exhibition of extremely high quality, both standard of art and exhibition layout. All previous
exhibitions have been interesting especially National Park exhibition some months ago. No
improvements needed. Garden and cafe excellent.
Very good place.
Course on picture framing.
Beautiful, peaceful and quiet, an excellent facility.. It is lovely to spend time here.
Good place to visit.
Excellent building/display area, design including landscaping. Professionally, very high regional
gallery. Great array of works.
Think the idea of the movies is great! Will try to get to one of them - please keep this up if in theme of
exhibitions! Just been to coffee making presentation - EXCELLENT! Am enrolling again in the
classes. Great past of Hazelhurst. My favourite exhibitions have been children's books illustrations
and the Drovers Boy.
A comfortable seat in the gallery is good. The toilets were clean, presentable and in working order.
It's fine. I entered the gallery from the side street near Gymea shops. The first trip here I thought the
main gallery was the only one. Only on exploring more, did I find the gallery and studios on the other
side of the cafe. Perhaps a "through to more exhibitions" sign might invite people in who do not want
food, just all the art.
More kids programmes.
Permanent exhibition of Shire & St George artists.
A great community based cultural facility. Professionally designed/set-up surrounding gardens add
value to the gallery location.
Better positioning of the "Do not artworks" rule. I saw two people touch artworks on my visit despite
the numerous signs.

Both major exhibitions very satisfying. However, as an editor, I wondered if John Olson should be
"John Olsen" and Drover's Boy should read "Drovers Boy" in curatorial info at entrance to Marchant
exhibit.
Really liked the drovers boy - good story telling through art and appreciated the use of colour.
Enjoyed Judy Cotton - Diane Mah.
I thought the Drovers Boy was really thought provoking. Judy Cotton’s work interesting.
Drovers Boy fantastic - very strong.
The presentation of the drovers boy very impressive. music, video etc.
Deep and moving.
Drovers boy exhibition excellent.
I think it all very well done.
Very stark reality on the Drovers Paintings - Marvellous colouring.
Great. I really enjoyed the video about the Drover's Boy!
The Drovers Boy - Vivid!
I really like the type of artwork/form done by Judy Cotton - encaustic - which I had never seen before.
Not enough in display. Photos of food lacked creativity.
Bob Marchant - The Drovers Boy was extremely powerful and very difficult to forget - very Australian.
Outstanding. Wonderful combination. Done with so much thought, insight and imagination.
Satisfaction - most interesting and very authentically displayed.
Different and very interesting.
I was particularly impressed by Drover's Boy Exhibition.
Drovers Boy – fantastic.
Bob Marchant's Drovers Boy interesting & thought provoking.
Didn’t have time today.
I love the difference!
Excellent range of art (media) styles and very well displayed!
Excellent range of art (media) styles and very well displayed!

WOW! Bob Marchant – moving.
Fantastic.
Very educational.
More information about art classes.
Excellent.
Astounding.
Both are powerful sets of paintings – Marchants is harsh reality. I’ve never seen encaustic before. It’s
amazing.
Poignant video.
Very moving experience.
It was quite amazing and wonderful.
“Drovers Boy” – Outstanding, moving work. Congratulations Bob Marchant.
Amazing contrast of styles – Judy Cotton’s technique is intriguing!
Well. The noise of rampaging children drove us away. Children climbing over priceless artifacts –
those amazingly beautiful whooping cranes (because dad is a major sponsor it’s OK!). What is
happening to Hazelhurst – is it just for the noisy few now?
Wonderful.
Very moving.
Drover’s Boy is amazing and very touching.
Two wonderfully inspiring exhibition from two outstanding artists.
Great venue for art.
Excellent art space and gift shop.

Interesting ‘food for thought’ – pardon me! Very well done.
Mouthwatering ceramics!
What a fascinating exhibition!
Wonderful surprise!
The most impressive exhibition that I’ve seen here. Well done!
So expansive, well displayed.
Vert entertaining, imaginative approach.
Another inspiring exhibition.
Great shoe. Please refrain from sticking drawing pins through the digital prints. Very distracting and
destructive to the print.
Very interesting and surprisingly imaginative exhibition.
The gallery provides a meditative atmosphere. Good for losing one’s thoughts.
Thought-provoking and enjoyable.
We have had some very good comments.
Interesting and well set out.
One of the best exhibitions I’ve seen in a long time. Loved it! Thank you for bringing it to us. Has
inspired me to pursue my love of food further.
This exhibition has been a total delight. The innovative ideas expressed in relation to food by these
talented artists has been inspirational. I will never look at food again in the same way!
Please warn your maintenance team not to leave scissors and sharps unattended outside. Thanks.
A fabulous exhibition and wonderful in concept and in execution.
I particularly liked the willow pattern picture!
