Grading Guidelines-Students with Individualized Education Programs EIA(R6)
Each student receiving special education instruction has an individualized education program
(IEP) which addresses the student’s educational needs, functional needs, educational goals
and objectives.
District grading guidelines for reporting progress on the general curriculum will be followed for
all grades.
Teacher of Record:
* The teacher of record is responsible for progress and grade reporting of student achievement on
the general curriculum. The special education teacher is responsible for progress reporting on the
Individualized Education Program, and for progress and grade reporting in the core subject areas
for which they are the teacher of record.
Intensive Interventions:
* Grades are not given for required intensive interventions in reading and math, as part of the
student’s IEP. Student growth on intensive interventions is reported as part of IEP progress
reporting in lieu of grades.
Instructional Arrangement:
* All students, regardless of instructional arrangement, shall receive grades on the general
curriculum, modified curriculum, and alternative curriculum documented as part of the IEP for
each core subject area.
Curriculum Based Assessments:
* Curriculum Based Assessments shall be considered by the ARD committee as one source of
data for development of the IEP. The ARD committee shall determine student participation and
grading related to CBAs.
