Grading Policy Mrs. Scott – Math (7, 8, Geometry) 2012-2013 School Year Homework: Expect daily homework assignments and “problems of the day” Homework must be done in pencil, it will not be accepted otherwise All work must be shown and must be done individually Each student can evaluate his/her progress daily when going over assignments in class Students will fill out a “homework table of contents” which will be kept in the homework section of their notebook Homework grading rubric: o 5 – Handed in on-time, in class, work shown, completed accurately o 4 – Completed accurately with work shown, but handed in anytime after class the day it was due OR on-time but needs minor work (may be corrected for a 5) o 3 – Homework completed accurately, all work is shown, but handed in late OR poor quality work handed in on-time (may be corrected for a 4) Quizzes: Quizzes will be given frequently: students should be continually prepared ONE re-quiz may be given only after first quiz has been discussed and corrected with Mrs. Scott Tests: Will occur as deemed appropriate In addition to regular tests for 7th and 8th graders a State Assessment will be given in April, and a final exam or project (June) In addition to regular tests for Geometry there will be a possible midterm in January and a Regents in June Quizzes/Tests: Must be completed by the next attended school day If absent the day of the quiz/test, must be completed within the next two attended school days If absent the day before quiz/test, student will still be expected to take quiz/test the day it is given Will be given nearly every Friday Note to Parents: Please stay involved in your child(ren)’s education. You can help them by monitoring their completion of daily homework assignments, encouraging them to participate in class, and being aware of their progress.
