KENILWORTH UNION CHURCH DIRECTOR OF CHILDREN’S MINISTRIES About Kenilworth Union Church: Kenilworth Union Church, a large, vibrant, NorthShore church founded in 1892, is the oldest non-denominational protestant church in the United States. Position: The Director of Children’s Ministries is responsible for managing all aspects of the children’s programs, including Sunday school, A Joyful Noise preschool and all extracurricular events. The Director reports to the Senior Minister and is a member of the Senior Staff. The Director of Children’s Ministries partners with the Senior Staff and the Board of Trustees to ensure that children’s spiritual and educational needs are met. The Director oversees the Children’s Ministries budget and manages a team of four and provides oversight for nine teachers. Primary Responsibilities: Sunday school – Directs the Sunday school program, which includes overseeing curriculum for children in 3 years of age through 8th grade. Recruits, trains and oversees 125 volunteer teachers and 50 High School Helpers. Ensures consistent professional and volunteer workers for Crib & Toddler care each week. Conducts chapel for 3 year olds through 2nd grade at 9:00 and 10:30 services each Sunday. Directs Christmas pageants, Family Nativity Service (Christmas Eve) and Children’s Day annually. Oversees summer Family Services – Create and deliver children’s message during worship service. Provide oversight to children’s activities for family services. Provides oversight for A Joyful Noise preschool – Works closely with the preschool director to ensure preschool is running effectively and efficiently. Attends all preschool Board meetings and Executive committee meetings as well as all preschool functions. Oversee Beginnings program. Directs all extracurricular children’s activities, including 1st – 6th grade Fellowship and Service Clubs, Rejoice Art, Minister Hour, and other activities as scheduled. Additional Responsibilities: Collaborating with Senior Staff and other staff members as needed. Serving as staff representative on various Board of Trustees committees. Providing support and services to various congregational groups and activities. Qualifications: College degree and solid understanding of basic Bible stories and Kenilworth Union Church beliefs and values. Experience, ability and desire to work with children and families. Familiarity with and comfort working in a not-for-profit environment. Strong interpersonal and leadership skills. Strong oral and written communications skills. Success Factors: Children and family oriented. Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects and deadlines. Conscientious, detailed and organized. Hands-on, team player with collaborative style. Strong computer skills a plus. Compensation: Full-time, salaried position. Sundays required. Flexible hours possible. Position also requires occasional involvement with evening meetings and events.
