Task1. Read the following questions then discuss them with your partner.

Does pronunciation need to be deliberately taught?
Yes, pronunciation needs to be deliberately taught. Teacher should help learners
deliberately taught. If the Learners have got correct pronunciation they have got
success to learn any difficult new words.
What does teaching pronunciation involve?
1. The sounds of the language;
2. Phonology stress and rhythm
3. Intonation.
Spelling and pronunciation are they taught together?
Spelling and pronunciation are they should teach together because learners
remember letters and sounds.
The pronunciation helps learners to understand a material better.
Task2. Why do you think Ls make pronunciation errors?
 A sound does exist in the mother tongue;
 They don’t known how to speak correctly;
 Learners have not learnt the stress patterns of the word or group of
words;
 The teacher doesn’t to teach pay attention of pronunciation of
learners.
Task3. Write a list of ideas for improving Ls' pronunciation.





To read and repeat any words after teacher or after recorded model;
Systematic explanation and instruction;
Explain how to make the sound.
varied repetition of drills (varied speed, volume, mood)
learning by heart of sentences, rhymes, jingles
Task4. Imagine that you want to focus on a sound which students find difficult.
Which of these steps are most important? Which are not necessary?

sounds. - Write words on the board. - Explain how to make the sound. - Get
students to repeat the sound in chorus. - Get individual students to repeat the
sound.
In my opinion the most important steps are:

Contrast it with other sounds.
Are less important such as:
- Get individual students to repeat the sound;
- Write words on the board;
- Get students to repeat the sound in chorus
Because we have not a lot of time at school on studying of the correct
pronunciation.
