Shop drawings, product data, and samples under provisions of Section 01330. B. Applicator Qualifications: Submit qualifications of applicator. 1. Certification stating applicator is experienced in the application of the specified products. 2. List of recently completed masonry cleaning projects, including project name and location, names of owner and architect, description of cleaning products used and substrates, applicable local environmental regulations, and application procedures. C. Environmental Regulations: Submit description for testing, handling, treatment, containment, collection, transport, disposal, and discharge of hazardous wastes and cleaning effluents. Describe any hazardous materials to be cleaned from substrates. Submit applicable local environmental regulations. D. Protection: Submit description for protecting surrounding areas, landscaping, building occupants, pedestrians, vehicles, and non-masonry surfaces during the work from contact with masonry cleaners, residues, rinse water, fumes, wastes, and cleaning effluents. E. Surface Preparation: Submit description for surface preparation of substrates to be completed before application of masonry cleaners. F. Application: Submit description for application procedures of masonry cleaners. QUALITY ASSURANCE A. Qualifications: 1. Manufacturer Qualifications: a. Manufacturer capable of providing field service representation during installation and who will approve the installer and application method. 2. Installer Qualifications: a. Installer experienced in performing this type of work and who has specialized in work similar to the type required for this project. B. Test Panels: 1. Before full-scale application, test products to be used on test panels. 2. Review manufacturer's product data sheets to determine suitability of each product for each surface. 07190 - 1 Water Repellents 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. C. 1.5 Project Environmental Requirements 1. Do not apply products under conditions outside manufacturer's requirements, which include: a. Surfaces that are frozen; allow complete thawing prior to installation. b. Surface and air temperatures below 40 degrees F. c. Surface and air temperatures above 95 degrees F. d. When surface or air temperature is not expected to remain above 40 degrees F for at least 8 hours after application. e. Wind conditions that may blow materials onto surfaces not intended to be treated. f. Less than 24 hours after a rain or 6 hours before rain is expected after installation. 2. Ventilate spaces receiving product in accordance with material manufacturers' instructions. WARRANTY A. Comply with requirements of Section 01780 - Closeout Submittals. B. Submit a written warranty, executed by the Contractor, Installer, and Manufacturer, agreeing to replace sealant that fails in materials or workmanship within the specified warranty period. 1. Warranty Period: Five (5) years after date of Substantial Completion. PART 2 2.1 Comply with requirements of Section 01660 - Storage and Handling Requirements. DELIVERY, STORAGE, AND HANDLING A. 1.6 Apply products using manufacturer-approved application methods, determining actual requirements for application. After 48 hours, review effectiveness of cleaning or treatment, compatibility with substrates, and ability to achieve desired results. Let test area protective treatment cure before inspection. Obtain approval by Architect and Owner of workmanship, color, and texture before proceeding with work. Test Panels: Inconspicuous sections of actual construction. a. Location and number as selected by Architect. b. Size; 4 feet by 4 feet. c. Repair unacceptable work to the satisfaction of the Architect and Owner. Regulatory Compliance a. Comply with applicable federal, state, and local environmental regulations including testing, handling, treatment, containment, collection, transport, disposal, and discharge of hazardous wastes and cleaning effluents. Verify that substrates are acceptable for product installation; do not begin until substrates meet manufacturer's requirements. 2. Do not begin until test panels have been approved by Architect. PREPARATION A. Comply with provisions of Section 01720 – Preparation. B. Surface Preparation 1. Protect surrounding areas, landscaping, building occupants, pedestrians, vehicles, and non-masonry surfaces during the work from contact with masonry cleaners, residues, rinse water, fumes, wastes, and cleaning effluents in accordance with manufacturer's written instructions. 2. On surfaces to be coated or treated, remove dirt, dust, oil, grease, and other contaminants that would interfere with penetration or performance of products; where cleaners are required, use products recommended by manufacturer; rinse thoroughly and allow to dry completely. 3. Apply all specified sealants and caulking and allow curing before sealing process begins. 4. Divert and protect pedestrian and auto traffic. 5. Avoid wind drifting of spray of cleaning products, residues, and rinse water. 6. Protect open joints. APPLICATION A. Comply with provisions of Section 01730 – Execution. B. Seal in accordance with manufacturer's instructions and recommendations, product data, and container label instructions. C. Mix materials in strict accordance with manufacturer's instructions; do not dilute unless permitted by manufacturer. D. Prevent overspray, wind drift, and splash onto surfaces not to be treated. FIELD QUALITY CONTROL A. Inspection: 1. Inspect the masonry cleaning work with the Contractor, Architect, applicator, and product representative, and compare with test panel results approved by the Architect. Determine if the substrates are suitably clean. 07190 - 3 Water Repellents B. 3.5 Manufacturers’ Field Services 1. Provide the services of the manufacturer's authorized field representative to verify that installed products comply with manufacturer's requirements and with the standard established by the Architect-approved test panels. CLEANING A. At completion of work, remove protective coverings. B. Protect completed work from damage during construction. C. Clean site of all unused cleaning products, residues, rinse water, wastes, and cleaning effluents in accordance with environmental regulations. D. Repair, restore, or replace to the satisfaction of the Architect, all materials, landscaping, and non-masonry surfaces damaged by exposure to the cleaning process.
