Pedigree of John Imrie (1910) The first of the Scotch (sic) Imries of which there is any record had been an officer in the French Army, where he and some others got into such trouble that they fled their country and made their way to Fifeshire. This ancestor was called "Colonel Imrie". One of his descendants (probably the only one) was John Imrie, father of David Imrie, grandfather of James Imrie, great grandfather of William and John, and great great grandfather of this writer. John Imrie must have been born about the year 1700. He was a grazier and flesher in the Parish of Fosseway, Fifeshire. His wife's name was Dempster. Lawrence a farmer, married Elizabeth Hird, and their family were James, John, Wiliam, Margaret Melville, Connie Webster and Elizabeth Farmer. David Imrie, the fifth son of John Imrie, as above, was born in 1737 and died in Maryhill in 1835, age 98 years. Most of his life was spent at Tayburn (?) Fifeshire. His wife's name was Beryl Laland (?), and their children were: the writer's grandfather - vide infra. married Eliza Lyle, family one daughter, who married a man named Davidson and had no family. 3. George & Annie, who went to New York. James Imrie, the writer's grandfather, was born in Fife in 1769. At the age of 20 years he married Ann Hilkill (?) and settled at Maryhill, first as a contractor, and subsequently as a farmer at Haddercaill Farm. He died at Garrock, Maryhill in 1859, aged 95 years His family were: who went to Tobago, West Indies, and died there supposed unmarried. who died young. who died unmarried about 1876. born 1805 and died in 1880. He married Hellen Love and by her had eleven children, viz. Annie, James, William, Mary, David, Helen Jessa, John Love, Peter, George, Margaret. 5. Annie who married John Cruickshank and had eight children, viz. William, Annie, Elizabeth, James, Henrietta, Mary, John & Richard. 6. John who married Hazel Johnston and had by her 7 children, viz. Annie, James, Jeannie, Jessie, John, David and Margaret. John Imrie, the writer's father, died at Thurdykes 22nd March 1883, aged 74 years. His widow died at Thurdykes 1887 aged 78 years. Both lived at Church Yard, Maryhill. Glasgow 6th Oct 1910 married Robt Mitchell, veterinary surgeon, Glasgow. married ? at Autofogasta (?) Leila James, one daughter. died young. died young. married Jane Kerr Pollock 28th August 1876. Family seven children, John, Robert Pollock, Eliza Smith, James Johnston, Janet Kerr, David Andrew and William. who married Jessie Clark ? and had eleven children, viz.
