SEPTEMBER 27, 2010 VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT#10-119 The following full-time position is open in Northeast North Dakota Position Title: Employment & Training Coordinator Reports To: State Director Function: Implements and manages Experience Works programs and services for older Americans who are generally 55+ in a designated geographic area. Serves as the primary link between the Experience Works older workers, host agencies, businesses, and approximately 80 older workers, host agencies, businesses, and communities in 9 counties. Counties served include Grand Forks, Nelson, Walsh, Ramsey, Benson, Pierce, Towner, Cavalier, Pembina. Primary Duties and Responsibilities: Actively recruits applicants for the Senior Community Service Employment Program (SCSEP) Interviews and assesses participants to determine appropriate community service assignment and training plans Monitors the training, skill development, and performance of participants Provides ongoing coaching, support and case management to secure the training needed to increase participant skills and supportive services to overcome employment barriers Develops community service assignments, as well as training and employment opportunities for participants Provides job development services to help participants obtain unsubsidized employment Develops customized training to prepare participants for jobs that are in demand Completes required SCSEP forms timely and accurately, consistent with Experience Works policies Utilizes computer software to assess the needs and abilities of older persons Works with community and technical colleges to develop curriculum components and customized training to meet the needs of SCSEP participants Develops, nurtures and maintains positive relationships with businesses, organizations, programs, training providers, public officials, and the media Serves as contact for Workforce Investment Boards, community groups and other partners Serves as an advocate for older workers Extensive daily and occasional overnight travel Required Qualifications: Residence in or willingness to relocate to the area served Has a passion for enhancing community service and employment opportunities for older people Understands the special employment needs of older workers and is creatively able to address these needs Familiarity labor market information is a plus Able to identify the needs and expectations of program participants, community organizations and employers Demonstrated commitment, teamwork, and collaboration Effectively works with and serves participants, host agencies and employers in a positive, professional manner Is knowledgeable about the range of services available in community and able and willing to develop relationships to deliver a comprehensive array of services Excellent management and interpersonal skills, strong planning and organizational skills, ability to work with accuracy and detailed paperwork Proven supervisory ability, and experience with community service, aging issues, employment counseling, or related transferable competencies Individual must be a self-starter who communicates effectively, motivates others, and has an affinity for and a desire to work with older people College degree or equivalent work experience Must possess a valid driver's license, acceptable driving record, auto liability insurance, and reliable transportation Is proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, and the Internet Workforce Development certification a plus Compensation: Competitive salary, plus excellent benefits, and reimbursement of travel expenses.
