Classroom Values
The purpose of the values is to create behavioral expectations for the children as they
interact with their peers and their environment. The children co-construct the values of
their classroom with their teacher, thereby taking ownership of their classroom
responsibilities. This creates a common language and understanding among diverse
groups of children and serves as a way to unify the group. The teacher then refers back to
these values on a daily basis to remind students of what it means to be a part of the school
community.
