Southern Oregon University Library Special Collections EDWARD HUNGERFORD COLLECTION # 007 Introduction and Scope Note April 20, 2005 Edward Hungerford, Professor Emeritus of English at Southern Oregon University, donated this special collection in November of 2004. Materials in the collection relate to the Greek author and poet, Theodore Stephanides. One box contains translations, typescripts of poetic dramas, and correspondence from Stephanides to Edward Hungerford. The collection also consists of six signed copies of books of poetry by Stephanides that have been shelved in the general section of Special Collections. Mar. 30, 1982 letter from Stephanides, containing a copy of interview answers and a list of works by Stephanides. Apr. 7, 1982 letter from Stephanides, containing notes and addenda to the answers of the prior letter. Includes a poem by Stephanides. June 1, 1982 letter from Stephanides, which was sent with the typescript of The Golden Face. Includes a poem by Stephanides. July 21, 1982 letter from Stephanides, which was sent with the errata sheet for Climax in Crete. Includes three poems by Stephanides. Dec. 6, 1982 letter from Stephanides, including an epigram translated from Ancient Greek. Jan. 2, 1983 letter from Stephanides, containing an epigram translated from Ancient Greek. Grouped with a June 12, 1950 letter from Hungerford to Dr. Earle Davis regarding An American in Sicily. Jan. 24, 1983 letter from Stephanides, with notes on Larry Durrell and Stephanides’ translation of The King’s Flute, as well as two additional poems translated from Ancient Greek.
