Malaysia 13 Fire Victim Families At Kampung Titingan, Jalan Damai Receive Aid Updated: 2013-01-23-12:36 TAWAU, Jan 23 (Bernama) -- Thirteen families, victims of a fire in Kampung Titingan, Jalan Damai, near here, today received aid in the form of cash RM1,000 each and basic necessities, from the Umno Tawau division. The aid was handed over by the Sabah assistant finance minister and Apas State Assemblyman Datuk Tawfiq Abu Bakar Titingan. "We are thankful no one was hurt. We urge the victims to be patient. The incident should be a lesson to us all to be more careful," he told reporters today after handing over the aid to the victims, here, today. In the incident at 3pm yesterday, six houses in the village were razed and three were damaged. Tawfiq told the villagers to handle electrical equipment with care and avoid indiscriminate extensions which could cause fire. Tawfiq, who is also Tawau Umno division chief, suggested that residents with business premises or shophouses sought insurance coverage. -- BERNAMA
