Teacher of Social Science – A level Sociology with
Citizenship/ PSHE
The Vacancy
We are looking for a dynamic, well qualified and enthusiastic teacher of Social Science to include A Level Sociology. We teach
Sociology within the Sixth form and this is a popular, successful and growing A Level subject. We will be running two AS Sociology groups in September. In addition all pupils in Key Stage 3 & 4 follow a discrete course of Citizenship and PSHE (Personal & social, health, careers education). Pupils can also opt for GCSE Citizenship in Year
10. We also teach A Level Psychology and Religious Studies at Key
Stage 3 & 4. Please state in your application if you are willing and able to offer any additional Social Science subjects.
The successful candidate will be working within an energetic, resourceful and successful department, which plays a positive role in this high achieving school. We are looking for a teacher who is an excellent classroom practitioner to join a strong, dedicated and progressive department.
The successful candidate will share a common belief of the department that all pupils must be provided with the best opportunities and will work hard to ensure pupils have a broad and insightful experience in the subject, often going beyond the classroom setting. For example the department leads and coordinates the senior school council as well as contributing to the supervision and support of the EPQ in the Sixth Form (extended project qualification).
The post would suit a NQT or experienced teacher. We have an excellent NQT Induction programme and provide a high level of support.
We are looking for somebody who is able to continue to build on the excellent work and reputation of this department
