Sociology - Year 9 Pathway Overview of Subject Sociology helps students develop a wide range of knowledge and understanding about society, and how sociologists study and understand its structures, processes and issues. Sociology is exciting, interesting and relevant to students' lives. Overview of Pathways available in Subject Sociology lends itself to a range of career prospects, from the police force, social work or teaching to business and journalism. The subject will help students develop debating and arguing skills that will be useful in other subjects. Pathways and Examinations Course Title: Sociology Exam Board: AQA Qualification: GCSE How it is assessed? Past exam essay questions throughout the year to assess student progress throughout Unit 1 and to enable students to practice in preparation for final year 11 exam. There are two exams at the end of the course each worth 50%. Future Pathways This subjects encourages students to take a questioning approach to evidence and issues, thus developing their critical, evaluative skills.
