Day Two: Written Exam CPR, Bloodborne Pathogens, and First Aid
Bloodborne Pathogens Course
Course Description
Heartsaver Bloodborne Pathogens Course is a classroom course that teaches employees how to
protect themselves and others from being exposed to blood or blood-containing materials. This course
is designed to meet Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) requirements for
bloodborne pathogens training when paired with site-specific instruction
First Aid Course
Course Description
First Aid is the immediate care given to the injured or suddenly ill person. It is the temporary
assistance that is rendered until competent medical care, if required, arrives and takes over. This is a
basic program that will concentrate on the first five minutes of care. If your work or lifestyle places you
in locations where the EMS (Emergency Medical Services) response time is questionable, we
recommend that you participate in a first responder program. Properly applied first aid can save lives,
reduce recovery time, and quite possibly be the difference between temporary disability and/or lifelong
disability of the victim.
CPR for the Healthcare Provider Course
Course Description:
The BLS Healthcare Provider Course is designed to provide a wide variety of healthcare professionals
the ability to recognize several life-threatening emergencies, provide CPR, use an AED, and relieve
choking in a safe, timely and effective manner. The course is intended for certified or noncertified,
licensed or non-licensed healthcare professionals.
Intended Audience:
Healthcare providers such as physicians, nurses, paramedics, emergency medical technicians,
respiratory therapists, physical and occupational therapists, physician's assistants, residents or fellows,
or medical or nursing students in training, aides, medical or nursing assistants, police officers, and
other allied health personnel.

scenarios are an integral portion of this course. Students must be able to perform required skills in a
competent manner in order to pass this course.
This course does require the physical ability of students to be able to kneel on the ground and provide
chest compression on a manikin.
