PRIMARY CARE ASSOCIATES JOB DESCRIPTION Position Title: Responsible To: Supervises: Radiologic Technologist Radiology Team Leader None Position Summary: To provide imaging service care to patients for the purpose of diagnosis and/or treatment of anatomic and physiologic disorders. Qualifications: Registered by American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) Good communication skills Ability to work well with others and handle stressful situations maturely Computer knowledge and skills Excellent team player CPR certified Physical Requirements: Employee is required to stand/walk 6-8 hours in 8-hour day and transfer patients requiring medium work of lifting 50 lbs. as well as carrying 25 lbs. Hearing and visual abilities are required. Must be able to bend, squat, and perform overhead work frequently. Employee is required to use hands repetitively for grasping, pushing, pulling and fine manipulation. Employee is also required to lean and stretch over radiology equipment. Duties and Responsibilities: 1. Receive x-ray order, check for special instructions from the requesting physician, consult with physician/radiologist as necessary. 2. Retrieve any prior studies from the PACs system or any outside facilities. 3. Pleasantly greet patients, confirming their identification. 4. Completely explain examination procedure to patient and family, if necessary. 5. Perform all routine radiographic procedures; demonstrate anatomy under investigation through proper patient positioning, and technique selection; and apply immobilization and radiation protection devices according to department policy and procedure. 6. Accountable for the verification of all data entry for patient demographic information. 7. Perform visual preventive safety inspections and complete tube warm-up procedures as necessary. 8. Record and report dangerous department or equipment conditions to appropriate personnel. 9. Maintain necessary inventory of supplies for assigned area. 10. Document accurately and concisely, collecting appropriate clinical history for radiologist. 11. Knowledgeable of the radiographic equipment used and related accessories. 12. Must be able to work independently, ability to exercise judgment and make decisions. 13. Answer phones. Duties and Responsibilities continued: 14. Coordinate and perform all department clerical work; including filing of reports, scheduling patients, retrieving of prior studies 15. Assist physicians and other staff in retrieving radiographic exams and reports. 16. Maintain professional acumen through professional organizations and educational programs. 17. Responsible for maintaining a safe and hygienic environment. 18. Maintain continuing education requirements and CPR certification. 19. Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
