Budget Hearing: Dick P presented the proposed 2008 budget to the Budget Committee.
The proposal was accepted but the amount in the alarm line was increased due to a
new contract that covers all town buildings. Two warrants, driveway repaving and
residing of the building were also submitted for consideration at the next town meeting
Capitol Reserve Fund: So far $13, 436.20 ($12, 500 to paint the bridge, $86.20 for
railing materials, and $850.00 for abutment stone work) has been expended. The
society decided to keep the remainder of this fund for now until it can be determined
the cost of repairing the wall on the Baas property that has been eroded during last
springs massive rains. Even though this wall is on private property it is next to the wall
supporting the bridge; further erosion wound endanger this support.
Warren: Lucille N read a not from Isabel Bolson (Elnora Warren’s daughter)
acknowledging receiving Walt’s book and the 2008 calendar. We will be setting up the
display with plaque (“The James and Elnora Warren Family”) soon and sending Isabel
pictures of this display.
Edmunds Homestead: The barn attached to the homestead is falling down. The owner,
George Foster IV, has given the society permission to scavenge old boards for use in the
museum. Bernie R and Fred S retrieved several boards last week. There are also
hundreds of had cast brick available.
