ROYAL COMMISSION ON THE ANCIENT AND HISTORICAL MONUMENTS OF WALES The Royal Commission is seeking to fill three important roles to support development into the next chapter of its 106 year history. Based in Aberystwyth, The Royal Commission is the investigation body and national archive for the historic environment of Wales. We have the lead role in ensuring that Wales’s archaeological, built and maritime heritage is authoritatively recorded, and seek to promote the understanding and appreciation of this heritage nationally and internationally. One of the three ‘national collections’, the National Monuments Record of Wales is our principal asset, which contains over 1.25 million images of the historic environment of Wales, as well as text documents, artworks and other records numbering to the hundreds of thousands. These three posts are fundamental to ensuring that we fulfil our responsibilities to the people of Wales, our Royal Warrant and the Welsh Government, in making the National Monuments Record for Wales as widely accessible as we can. The ideal candidates will have a passion for the history of Wales, and will delight in contributing to our public service work.
