The Tsunami, one year after: Solidarity in action with Schneider Electric A long-term commitment >Three complementary programs Schneider Electric’s solidarity action was launched in January 2005 and includes three programs: >Emergency program, >Equipment and service donations program, >Reconstruction program. The first so-called ‘emergency program’ is now closed. It allowed rapid participation in actions coordinated mainly by major NGOs. The aim was to meet as quickly as possible the bare necessities of the populations hit by the disaster. The other two programs, the equipment and services donations program and the reconstruction program, are long-term projects. They also constitute most of the amounts allocated or that remain to be allocated to date. The partners have been identified, the projects approved and the initial progress measured. The action mainly concerns participating in restoring water and power distribution infrastructure and rebuilding schools and orphanages. 27 organizations benefited from the direct support of Schneider Electric subsidiaries in 19 countries for a total amount of US$298,395. 3 The Tsunami, one year after: Solidarity in action with Schneider Electric >Emergency Program Goal: Help the disaster-stricken populations as quickly as possible.
