The Impact Of (The) Increasing (Number Of) Foreign Visitors To Japan Fukko (Fumiko Soda) Jan.16, 2016 In December 19th, 2015, 19 million foreign visitors came to Japan, up by 47.5% year on year (By December 19th, 2015, 19 million foreigners had visited Japan in the preceding twelve months, an increase of 47.5% on the previous year). The number of visitors to Japan has been increasing (in recent times), especially from China, Korea, and Southeast Asian countries. The number of duty-free shops also increased from 936 in 2014 to 29,047 in 2015. There are some (many) reasons (for this), such as the relaxation measure in visa in (of visa requirements for people of) some countries, (a) weaker yen (and) the (a) growing number of upper and middle classed (class) people in many countries who can (now) afford travelling (to travel) . At the same time, the nature, the culture, safe and clean area, Japanese food will be included in the reason (nature, culture, a safe and clean environment and food are also reasons why people might want to visit Japan) . Tourism from abroad is one of the few promising business (businesses) in Japan. The Japanese government sets (has set) a goal to increase (the number of) foreign visitors to 20 million in (by) 2020 and 30 million in (by) 2030. Foreign visitors to Japan can boost the image of “Japan brand” (Japanese brands) back in their countries, which may result in plus effects for Japanese companies abroad (Japanese companies succeeding abroad) and for foreign investors to Japan (investment in Japan to increase). While staying in Japan, foreign visitors spend 135,000 yen per person on average. Japanese household annual spending is 1,230,000 yen per person. So on the (according to this) data, nine foreign visitors can cover one Japanese consumption expense (spend as much as one Japanese consumer in a year). Isn’t it a good news to (in)Japan where the population is declining? (The) Japanese government is now promoting tourism industry (X unnecessary), focusing on foreign visitors and the key words are “local region (for revitalization)” and “consumption”, which will bolster the Japanese economy. Almost half to 60% (Between 50 and 60% of) foreign visitors visit and stay (in the) so-called “golden-route” between Tokyo and Kyoto. Thinking of our (own) travel(s) abroad, that is reasonable (understandable). We will not miss to see (out on seeing) each (any) country’s capital city and old capital city with the (featuring the) highlights of the country. So personally, I think, increasing Japan fan and people who want (the number of Japan fans and making people want) to return is very important, so that they will explore other regions - Kyushu is (being) no exception. And (But) how? There are many advantages, disadvantages, tackling issues (issues to be tackled), needs (requirements), efforts (to be made), etc. for boosting the (X unnecessary) tourism. So today, let’s talk about the tourism (it) and (the) impact of increasing (the number of) foreign visitors! Q1. How can we improve the (X) tourism and increase the visitors’ number (number of visitors to Japan)? Q2.When you travel abroad what is the reason (are the reasons that might make) you want to visit the country again? Will you explore the other region and what do you expect from it (other regions and what might you expect)? Q3.Are you interested in renting your room for (to) foreign visitors as Minpaku?
