JOB DESCRIPTION JOB TITLE: Math/Science Interventionist/Site Coordinator REPORTS TO: Principal/Assistant Superintendent for C&I/ACE Director DEPT/SCHOOL: Assigned Campus/ACE MERCEDES ISD WAGE/HOUR STATUS: Exempt PAY GRADE: AP-3 LENGTH OF ASSIGNMENT: 210 DATE REVISED: 10/2012 PRIMARY PURPOSE: To identify and work with students in need of math and science intervention in a small group setting, coordinate and oversee Afterschool Center on Education (ACE) activities, ensure all students arrive home safely after school. . QUALIFICATIONS: Education/Certification: Certified Teacher Bilingual/ESL Certified Preferred Special Knowledge/Skills: Knowledge of best teaching practices Knowledge in the teaching and implementation of the TEKS objectives Knowledge of effective practices for English Language Learners Knowledge of Before and Afterschool Program Implementation Good communication skills Experience: Three years classroom experience. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES: 1. Regularly review student profiles. 2. Identify clear measurable skills aligned to the State TEKS for math, science and language arts. 3. Prepare student schedules and timelines, assist in identifying classroom materials. 4. Align school day curriculum. 5. Monitor student busing, pick-ups and walkers. 6. Ensure all students arrive home safely after school (work until 6:30 p.m. Monday to Thursday) 7. Collect relevant data (i.e. attendance, student and parent demographics) submit to project staff. 8. Assign and monitor teachers, teacher assistants, tutors, and volunteers to class instruction. 9. Coordinate, with parent liaison, parent activities. 10. Submit all approved instructional materials requisitions and relevant forms to ACE office. 11. Enter all relevant data to Tx21st ACE system daily. 12. Review data to determine student academic needs in the area of math and science. 13. Review and monitor student data and progress. 14. Assist teachers in identifying students in need of math and science intervention. 15. Share, facilitate and conduct implementation of all staff development. 16. Work with small groups of students (5-10) needing math and science intervention for 45-60 minutes, 4-5 times a week. 18. Modify instruction and intervention based on assessment data. 19. Participate as a member of the campus assessment team. 20. Develop and implement a detailed lesson plan that reflects the needs of the students being served. 21. Prepare lessons that reflect accommodations for differences in student learning styles. 22. Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, and equipment that reflect understanding of the learning styles and needs of students assigned. 23. Conduct assessment of student learning styles and use results to plan instructional activities. 24. Help students analyze and improve study methods and habits. 25. Conduct ongoing assessment of student achievement through formal and informal testing. 26. Communicate with teachers and administrators on student progress. 27. Use effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly. 28. Keep informed of and comply with state, district, and school regulations and policies for classroom teachers. 29. Attend and participate in faculty meetings and serve on staff committees as required. 30. Maintain a positive and effective relationship with supervisors. 31. Perform any other duties as may be assigned. 32. Perform all duties in a safe manner to avoid injury to oneself and/or others.
