Job Title: Business Analyst Reporting to: Department: Location: Business Analyst Manager GDC Crawley About the role To provide the interface between an IT project and its clients as regards defining the client’s requirements through engagement with third-party providers. This role will require good soft-skills, especially with communications to third-party partners, as well as a strong ability to problem solve and identify and challenge project risks and issues. The successful candidate will have input to all aspects of the project lifecycle from initiation through to post-implementation support. The successful candidate will be required to spend around one day a week at other ACE locations aside from their home-based office, depending on project requirements. It is also envisaged there will be at least two visits per year to the third parties development sites (overseas). Qualifications/Experience Strong verbal, written and presentation skills Large-scale commercial insurance and re-insurance requires experience working in a complex multinational environment with inter-dependant systems Good commercial awareness and with particular emphasis of the insurance industry Demonstrable knowledge of recognised Business analysis methodology. Good analytical, reasoning, organisational and negotiation skills Strong insurance background Experience in be-spoke insurance packages such as GENIUS would be an advantage as would knowledge of workflow, conversion projects and document production solutions Documentation of business requirements and involvement in the full development lifecycle. Experience with outsourcing and external third-party suppliers/partners. Knowledge of process mapping; ‘as-is’ and ‘to-be’ and gap analysis Understanding of business process reengineering Some experience of vendor management would be beneficial Experience of managing testing scope, progress and client expectations. Ability to multitask and to work tasks without daily supervisor interaction. Key Responsibilities To define the clients requirements to an IT project team. Direct responsibility To develop a systems solution to the client’s requirements, taking into account the technologies available to IT and the standards in force at ACE. Indirect/shared responsibility To prepare the requirements, systems design and other Business Analysis documentation including but not limited to; proposals, evaluation of proposals, feasibility studies, in accordance with defined standards, and in such a way as they can be readily understood by the business and by the IT Project Team. Indirect/shared responsibility To assist the client in understanding how they will gain the maximum benefit from the solution. Direct Responsibility To represent IT to its clients in a professional manner. Direct responsibility To provide a support throughout the full project lifecycle, from project inception through to implementation. Direct responsibility Participation in the negotiation of proposal, solution and pricing options. Direct responsibility To identify areas of opportunity within IT for enhancing overall BA effectiveness and quality, and to propose initiatives to address these. Indirect/shared responsibility.
