ASSISTANT PROJECT MANAGER
Position Summary
AMCAL Multi-Housing, Inc., a rapidly growing private developer of diverse real estate projects, is
seeking an individual to fill the position of Assistant Project Manager. Primary job responsibilities will
be related to the due diligence, feasibility analysis, project funding applications, entitlements, design,
and permitting for residential projects throughout Southern California in support of project managers.
Responsibility for project assignments begins with Land Acquisition sign off and extends through the
pulling of building permits. Candidates for the Assistant Project Manager position should have a
minimum of a bachelor’s degree. Familiarity with real estate development on a professional level is
required.
Candidates should be highly skilled with the MS Office suite and recognize that detail oriented tasks
are critical to a business’ long-term success. This is an entry/mid-level development position with
greater project responsibility over time and based on demonstrated ability.
This is a position reports to the Director of Development in the Orange County office.
Responsibilities


















Assist in preparation of financing applications and meeting other lender requirements.
Assist in completing applications in response to Requests for Proposals (RFPs).
Assist in securing architectural, construction and other project approvals from planning and
building departments and other regulatory agencies.
If necessary, assist to organize, coordinate, document and facilitate escrow closings
Make sure project plans and specifications are received by construction in a timely manner.
Meet with corporate office to discuss issues associated with the development process.
Work with construction department, and corporate office to assist in preparation of project’s
development and construction budget.
Assist in completing project funding applications to local, state, and federal agencies and
ultimately close the financing with all such agencies.
Assist in preparing project budgets, cash flow projections, and project schedules.
Assist in site inspections.
Process invoice payments and change order requests.
Maintain a list of service providers.
Promote the highest quality development that reinforces AMCAL’s commitment to long term
viability.
Assist in ongoing interaction with Asset Management Department to ensure long term quality.
Maintain ongoing cordial professional relationships with outside entities and various
stakeholders.
Assist to strategize and coordinate with other departments to make sure that programmatic
issues with respect to the development and operations are adequately addressed.
Attend interdepartmental meetings and general AMCAL meetings as required.
Undertake any other projects or tasks as may be assigned.
Job Characteristics
Applicant should have a minimum of a bachelor’s degree and job experience in real estate development
with an emphasis in multi-family housing and/or affordable housing development project management;
OR a Master’s degree in real estate, city and regional planning, business, finance, public policy,
architecture or a related field and experience in real estate development.
 Experience with low income housing tax credits is a plus.
 Experience with entitlements is a plus.
 High degree of motivation and accountability.
 Exposure to private and public project financing.
 Exposure to design issues and construction materials and methods.
 Able to work with time sensitive material and meet multiple deadlines.
 Exceptional organizational, analytical, and written and verbal communication skills, and a high
capacity to multi-task are prerequisites.
 Excellent interpersonal skills is a must.
 Ability to work with a team.
 Position based in Irvine, CA – relocation not covered
 A criminal background check and review of current driving record may be required
