81 - Bluegrass Working Terrier Association

advertisement
A handful of KY terrier enthusiasts formed the
BWTA in 1984. Amazingly, we are this year
celebrating our 30th anniversary! Early events
included only racing, and no, we didn’t muzzle
back then. Surprisingly there weren’t many
fights! GTG was added a few years into our
existence. For many years that was the extent
of our offerings. Slowly the club grew in
interests and we began to offer other events at
our trials. Our trials moved from being held at
our member’s farms to different regional parks
to Shelby Co Fairgrounds, then settling several
years ago at the Spencer County Fairgrounds.
While our focus and scope has changed
through the years some things have continued.
We are a local, family friendly club encouraging
all breeds and all levels of experience to
participate. We do what we do because we like
to have fun with our dogs, and we welcome you
to join us. Find us on Facebook!

BWTA Rally Obedience
Rally offers both the dogs and handlers an experience that
is fun and energizing. The canine team moves at their own
pace, very similar to rally-style auto racing. A rally course
includes 10 to 20 stations. Scoring is not as rigorous as
traditional obedience. Communication between handler and
dog is encouraged and perfect heel position is not required,
but there should be a sense of teamwork between the dog
and handler. This is a fun course for everyone, if you can
read you can try Rally Obedience! Please if you are an
experienced Rally competitor let the judge know so we can
split classes accordingly for prizes.

BWTA Barn Hunt
Special vented PVC rat tubes are hidden in different above
ground obstacles in the barn. There is one rat in only one of
the tubes, this event tests your dog’s scenting, and tracking
ability and prey drive and also tests your ability to read your
dog. The dog is timed from when you release him until
when you tell the judge he has found the correct tube with
the rat. This is a great event for the kids and their special
