NEW BUSINESS
A. The Four Wheel Club is having their annual Land Owner Appreciation Dinner Sunday
November 20, 2011 at 4:30pm at Rita’s Catering. If you would like to attend please
contact Jason Johnson.
B. MMA will be at the Thorndike Town Office for the annual workers compensation
inspection Thursday November 17, 2011 at 1pm.
C. At the end of the Fowler Road a piece of land was purchased. The new land owner
would like to have the Town plow and maintain the road, currently the plow stops
approximately 2/10th before their property. The land owner asked Jim what would need
to be done in order for the town to take over. Jim did some research and found, the road
must be built up, go before the road commissioners and planning board and brought to
Town Meeting for people to vote on. At this point it is up the landowner to build the road
to specs before the Town can take it over.
D. Excise tax is up $2,056 from year to date.
E. Trash Stickers are down $2,500 from last year.
F. To date we have collected $70,000 in 2011 Taxes.
G. Jim suggested getting a dumpster for the new town office. Steve suggested we get a
locking cover, if not people are going to use it for their personal use. Jim will call
Sullivan’s to see what deal they will give the Town Office.
H. Jim suggested a sliding door should be installed in the big Kitchen window. This way if
it does not need to be used, it will keep people from getting in there. Jim contacted PDQ
Door for a 6’X3’ door, white/gray $925 and $600 to install it. Aluminum finish, $1130
and $600 to install and a stainless steel door $1600 and $600 to install. Gerald made a
motion to purchase the Aluminum door. Steve seconded the motion. All in favor motion
carries.
I. Shelves are needed for the Fire Proof Vault. Jim suggested 9’ of shelves on two of the
walls. Shelf size is 36”W x 84”H x 18”D and each shelf holds 600lbs. We can purchase
new shelves for $1100 or a set of used for $648, and in good condition. Steve made a
motion to get the used shelves as long as they are in good shape. Gerald seconded the
motion. All in favor, motion carries.
J. Jim asked the selectmen if they would like flat boards or clam shell for the trim around
the windows. Jim said the salesman said it cost the same amount. Should the mop board
be wood or rubber? The trim around the window will be painted white. Selectmen
leaned towards the clam shell trim around the windows and wood mop board.
A warrant in the amount of $11,797.11 was signed by selectmen.
A warrant in the amount of $46,959.57 for town office construction was signed by selectmen.
Steve made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Gerald seconded the motion. All in favor, meeting
adjourned at 7:35 p.m.
