Muegge-Carter – Sunday, June 11, 1939, Alva, Okla. Miss Caroline Muegge Weds Dr. Robt. P. Carter Miss Caroline Muegge, daughter of Mrs. G. A. Muegge of Lamont became the bride of Dr. Robert P. Carter of Tonkawa, son of Dr. and Mrs. T. C. Carter of Alva, at 4 o’clock Sunday afternoon in the Lamont Methodist church. Rev. Don H. LaGrone of Oklahoma City read the single ring ceremony. The church was attractively decorated with palms and gladioli Tall cathedral candles flanked the altar and the white prie dieu. Preceding the ceremony Miss Lena Esch, pianist, and Ben Matkin, violinist, both of Tonkawa played several numbers and Miss Mirth Kugel of Lamont, accompanied by Miss Esch, sang “Because” and “All For You.” The bridal chorus from “Lohengrin” and “Mendelssohn’s Wedding March” were used for the processional and the recessional. The tapers were lighted by Sally Mathews, niece of the bridegroom and Patricia Kugel of Oklahoma City. Both small girls were dressed in floor length pink frocks and wore gardenias in their hair Matron of honor was Mrs. Dent Hand of Denver, Colo., cousin of the bride. She wore a floor length lavender lace dress and carried a bouquet of Johanna Hill roses. Joe Denner of Alva served as the best man and ushers were Archel Muegge and George Muegge, brothers of the bride, Dr. D. L. Mathews of Tonkawa and Dent N. Hand of Denver. The bride wore a lovely gown of eyelet embroidered organdie. Her finger tip length veil was held in place with lilies of the valley and fell forward over her face. Her bouquet was of Easter lilies and lilies of the valley. She was given away in marriage by her uncle, W. C. Muegge of Lamont. A reception was held in the Muegge home immediately following the ceremony. Roses were used effectively for house decorations. Mrs. W. J. Lamb of Coffeyville and Mrs. W. C. Muegge of Lamont, aunts of the bride, and Miss Vera Kimble of Tonkawa presided at the refreshment table which was appointed with white tapers. Miss Pauline Muegge, cousin of the bride was in charge of the guest book. Guests from Alva who attended the wedding were Dr. and Mrs. T. C. Carter, parents of the bridegroom, Misses Rose Marie and Bethlene Kinsall, cousins of the bridegroom, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Denner, Mr. and Mrs. Andy Beegle, Mr. and Mrs. Milford Rice and Mr. and Mrs. Norman Ryerson. After the reception the bride and groom left on a brief trip before returning to Tonkawa to make their home. For her going away costume, the bride chose a redingote with a coat of cream crepe over a dress of sheer japonica print. Her accessories were cream and japonica. Mrs. Carter attended Stephens College, Columbia, Mo., Oklahoma City University and the University of Colorado at Boulder, Colo. For the past six years she has been a member of the faculty of the Tonkawa public schools. Doctor Carter ahs been engaged in the practice of dentistry in Tonkawa for the past five years. He attended Northwestern State college at Alva and obtained his DDS degree at Western Dental College, Kansas City, Mo.
