Vows Are Read For Miss Graves and Mr. Arganbright
Before an altar banked with yellow and white mums and fern, Miss Madeline Graves,
daughter of J. R. Graves, Sentinel, Oklahoma, became the bride of Billy M. Arganbright,
son of Mr. and Mrs. H. S. Arganbright, Alva, Saturday evening at the First Methodist
church, Sentinel.
Rev. Watson, pastor, performed the double ring ceremony. Before the ceremony, nuptial
music was played by Miss Laura Jane Calleway, Sentinel, and Miss Le’Katherin Ozbirn,
Sentinel, sang “Because.”
Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a frock of gold crepe made with a torso
bodice and full skirt. Gold sequins trimmed her hat of brown faille with shoulder length
veil. Her accessories were brown and she carried a single orchid centered in white
mums. As something borrowed, the bride carried a white handkerchief belonging to Mrs.
Lee Ozbirn. For something old, she wore a cameo that had belonged to her mother.
Mrs. J. M. Wilfong, Jr., Dallas, Texas, cousin of the bride, served as matron of honor.
She choose an ice blue velvet dress with matching turban and muff. On the muff was her
corsage of yellow mums.
Mrs. Harold Hartwig, Alva, sister of the groom, and Miss Norma Lee Tyler, Mangum,
served as bridesmaids. Their dresses of royal blue velvet and their turbans and muffs
were identical with those of the matron of honor. Their corsages were of yellow mums.
Candles were lighted by Mrs. Kay Phelps, Norman, and Miss Janie Trent, Alva. Their
dresses, turbans, and muffs were of plum velvet with corsages of white mums. They
wore gold necklaces.
Harold Hartwig, Alva, was best man and Leonard Shelite, Kiowa, Kansas, and Marion
Treseder, Alva, were ushers.
Immediately following the ceremony, a reception was held in the church parlors. Mrs.
Milton Hale, Sentinel and Mrs. Elvin ridding, Hereford, Texas, assisted at the the Bride’s
table. Mrs. Albert Porter, Miss Sue Calloway, and Miss Mary Thornton, Sentinel, had
charge of the guest book.
Following the reception, the couple left for a wedding trip to Dallas, Texas. The bride
was formerly associated with the FSA office in Alva. The couple will make their home
at 942 ½ Flood Street, Norman.
Among the out of town guests attending were Mr. and Mrs. H. S. Arganbright, Mr. and
Mrs. Harold Hartwig and Walter Dean; Mr. and Mrs. Marion Tresder and Patricia Ann;
Mrs. Lucile K. Evans, Mrs. Harry Bocock and Miss Janie Trent of Alva, and Mr. Leonard
Shelite, Kiowa.
