Liddiard 1/15 PHYSICS UNIT 5/6: Forces and Vectors Having studied acceleration, we now turn our attention to what causes objects to accelerate. Force, a “push” or “pull”, would be the quick answer. Sir Isaac Newton (1642-1727) summarized the connection between acceleration and its causes with his three laws of motion. Having studied vector quantities like velocity and acceleration, in one dimension, we turn to the mathematical modeling and manipulation of vectors in two dimensions. Both a graphical and analytical method will be used to determine resultant vectors, so we may study motion of objects in two dimensions in the next unit.
