May 4th. 2013 to sing Stainer’s Crucifixion.
We have received many requests from singers and audience who
attended last year’s “ Come Sing Messiah” for a follow-up. Singers
came far afield and we look forward to welcoming you again..
This year we have added offers which can be booked with your ticket, of
lunch and afternoon tea.
Please bring your own copy of the music. Dress – smart.

Tickets are £10 per person, singer or audience, available from January
14th.
Registration is from 1.30p.m. in the cloisters. Rehearsal begins at
2p.m. afternoon tea 4p.m. performance at 5.30.
Sir John Stainer was trained in the English cathedral choral tradition of
choirboy, university organist, bachelor and doctor of music, and organist
at St. Paul’s cathedral.
He wrote a number of choral works of which Crucifixion is probably the
most widely performed along with a number of regularly-performed
Christmas carols.
Last year’s Come Sing, featuring Handel’s Messiah raised £2850
towards paying off the debt on Chester cathedrals’ magnificent Song
School. This debt has now been settled, but our efforts are now centred
on raising funds for the planned re-building of the cathedral organ.
