TAADES402B - Design and Develop Learning Programs
INTRODUCTION
This unit specifies the competency required to conceptualise, design, develop and evaluate
learning programs to meet an identified need for a group of learners, using appropriate criteria.
Criteria may include endorsed competency standards and other specifications such as
organisational performance standards, product equipment specifications and workplace
procedures.
For training purposes we can use the same identified needs and program outline that you
developed for the unit “use Training packages to meet client needs”.
Again, in this unit you can choose to take and evidence only approach or the project approach.

WORKPLACE PROJECT
You are required to:
1. Identify the need and the parameters of the program
You have already done this in the unit “ use Training packages to meet client
needs”. Just use the same needs and parameters for this program.
2. Produce a scope statement for the training that outlines the breadth of the
program. A scope document includes;
 the name and number of competency standards of which your program is
based.
 The purpose of the training.
 the goal of the learning program
 the target group and specific characteristics of that group
 the environment in which the learning will occur (eg the workplace,
classroom, other).
 brief description of what needs to be covered
 any other relevant information
3. Define clearly the overall training goals and the specific learning outcomes to be
achieved in this program.
4. Describe at least three options for designing the learning program. For example,
you could adapt an existing program; or you could develop a whole new program
based on classroom work; or you could design a new program based totally onthe-job.
5. Select the most appropriate options and develop the content of the program
6. Outline the assessment strategy
7. Define the structure of the program
8. Identify and describe a process to review the program.
A template and a completed sample have been included that will guide you through the process
and is attached. (template 2 & 3)
