Appreciation and study of drawings by major artists are also included. Daily assignments and lab hours required. Materials purchased by students. ABILITIES THIS COURSE OFFERS YOU UPON SUCCESSFUL COMPLETION: Familiarity with basic drawing tools and materials Understanding and use of the various elements and principles of design Acquisition of skills necessary for good drawing composition Increased confidence in orally evaluating drawings in critique Ability to receive, extract and infer meaning from various works of art SUGGESTIONS FOR SUCCESS: Participate in studio/class discussions. Arrive on time. If you arrive late please consider the learning environment for others around you. Attendance is mandatory. Although you will be given 3 absences this term to use at your discretion, you are responsible for class material covered during your absence. Exceptions are for serious illness. Consistent class attendance is the best way to be successful. Research bears this out. Please make an appointment with me after class (not at the beginning of class) if you need information about missing assignments. Please take phone calls outside of the classroom if the call is urgent, otherwise, cell phones off. Please do not use your laptop during this class unless you have my permission.
