The panorama is completed by a magnificent view over the bay of Funchal USEFUL INFORMATION From the airport to the city centre From the airport you can reach your hotel by táxi or by airport shuttle bus. Taxi cos its very variable depending on the traffic, or time of the day (day or night) and it starts from about 30€ Aero-bus: The Aero-bus is a frequent express bus service between the airport and Funchal city. Reaching the symposium location CITY CENTRE The Symposium will take place in the VIDAMAR Resort, a five star hotel and conference centre, located at Estrada Monumental Lido, 10min by bus from the city centre. It has an auditorium for 350 people, 2 large rooms and several smaller meeting rooms. There is also a dedicated area for expositors and coffee breaks, overlooking the sea. The hotel has access to the sea, several swimming pools with sea water, and a large spa, besides several thematic restaurants. There is a supermarket, 5/10 minuts walking from the hotel. A shopping centre is also available 20minuts walking of 10minuts by regular bus (nº1,2). The small shop are normally open 9h00 - 19h00 from Monday until Friday, 9h00-13h00 on Saturday, Sundays they are closed. The Shopping Centre are open every day from 10h00 until 23h00. Chemist’s usually open from Monday to Friday 09h00-19h00, on Saturday 09h00-13h00, Sundays they follow a shift so i tis necessary to find out the nearest on open. Banks are open from Monday to Friday from 09h00 until 15h00. At Monte visit the beautiful gardens, and take the toboggan. The Toboggan is one of the most well-known attractions of Madeira Island. These traditional toboggans made from wicker and wood are pulled and guided by two men, called “carreiros”, men that use their own boots as brakes!
