Last month in the President’s words I talked about all of us doing just a little for the club. You knew this was leading somewhere. To start we need someone to coordinate the Field Day which we are due to host this year. It is just a PR job of advertising the event and finding some traders. By no means do we want an event like Wyong. Our last Field Day was a success as it was small and sociable. Of course it is also approaching the time of the year when the club AGM is held. That means all executive positions will be available. Don’t assume that the positions will be taken up by the usual people. There are always opportunities to do something for our club, however small. This years AGM will proceed a club casserole night down at the clubrooms. See you at Fridays’ meeting where we will be constructing 2 Metre Fox Hunting antenna. There will be some basic tools at the club for construction purposes and some materials if you cannot source any for yourself. If you already have one maybe you could bring it down for a show and tell. See you there Greg VK2KGO 1 Snippets *** Alan VK2KAW’s mother–in-law currently recovering in hospital. The Club wishes her well for a speedy recovery. *** Great to see VK2FBRI and VK2FNOC now regulars on Ch3 and other frequencies *** Contesting bug is still around. Bob VK2VKV entered the Harry Angel Sprint then a fortnight later entered the Trans Tasman 80meter contest. John VK2YW also entered the Trans Tasman. Good fun and a great way to hone your operating skills. *** Repeater is currently having a holiday on another hill. Tests indicate that signals to the north and east are much improved with losses to the some parts of the south. More discussion regarding its final resting place in the next few weeks. *** Brian VK2FBRI has more carpet ready to be laid. Other major jobs to be done in the next few weeks will be the commencement of the exterior painting. *** AGM will be held on June 29th. Meeting will be followed by Casserole tea. Bring along a casserole or dessert or both and join us for a pleasant evening. *** Jeff VK2AQ and Graham VK2HI are both conspicuous by their absence on Ch3. Both have changed vehicles and both haven’t yet re-installed them. Mind you, I think we went a whole car with Graham but I doubt Jeff will be off for much longer. *** Next meeting – practical evening building beams for proper foxhunting. You need to bring some suitable boom material such as 25mm electrical conduit or wood or aluminium to suit the layouts previously sent out.
