Bequests:
- wife Ann all “my Goods and Chattles of every sort and kind” and, during
her widowhood, the freehold tenements known as Ball-east and Woodhead in the parish of St Ewe
- son Thomas the previously mentioned freehold premises on the death or
marriage of his mother “to him his Executors, Heirs and Assigns for ever”
subject to the following “reservations, provisions and exceptions”
- daughter Catherine, wife of William Jane, an annuity of £1 during her
natural life to be paid from the previously mentioned freehold premises by
son Thomas or his appointee on the anniversary of his mother’s death
- daughter Ann Michel an annuity of £1 on the same terms as above
- daughters Catherine and Ann to be authorised and empowered “to recover
their respective annuities, if not paid within 1 Month after the time hereby
appointed to be paid, in the same manner as rent is to be recovered, by
distress or otherwise”
- daughter Philippa Johns when she reaches the age of 21 years or marries,
whichever happens first after her mother’s death, “The Western House
upon the aforesaid Premises together with the appurtenances, I mean the
Garden & all that hath been usually set or lett therewith, for & during the
term of her natural life” and also a bed with its Head and Furniture
- widow Ann to “supply all the necessary wants of the said Philippa Johns
during the time of her infancy, if she, my widow, so long live
- if widow Ann should die before Philippa Johns reaches the age of 21 “I do
will and ordain that my son Thomas Johns aforesaid shall provide for her
in like manner, or pay her weekly the sum of two shillings and six pence
per Week, & in the case of sickness or hurt so much more as her sisters
above mentioned shall think necessary”

CODICIL
If, when accounts are settled between daughter Catherine’s husband, William Jane,
and testator’s wife and executrix, Ann Johns, anything should be owing to testator,
his widow is not to take it. This is because, before the making of the will, he had
already determined to give this money to his daughter Catherine.
