Bond’s New Films: Quantum of Solace and Casino Royale Let me begin with a few comments about the latest film “Quantum of Solace.” It sounds like a strange name but if you analyze it carefully you see that it makes sense. As you might expect, it’s a continuation of Casino Royale, and Bond is out or revenge for the killing of his girlfriend. The quantum part refers to the fact that he’s wasting no time (a quantum of time is a very short interval). A lot of excitement has surrounded the filming. It is now about half finished, and the movies is suppose to be released in November if all goes well. It is being filmed in several very exotic locations including Panama, Baja (Mexico), Italy, Austria and London. I’ll try to keep you up on the latest. Now back to the previous film: Casino Royale. What do you think of it? I’ll admit I was a little worried before it came out, but there was nothing to worry about. It’s a great movie and has got some smashing reviews. Craig does a good job; unlike some of the previous Bonds, he’s human and fallible, but he never backs down from a fight. Furthermore, he brings a lot of character to the role. All in all I think the movie was a great success, and I’m looking forward to seeing more with Craig in them. It had an excellent plot with many interesting twists and turns. The ending was, of course, quite unexpected. In addition there was a tremendous amount of action and suspense throughout it. The most action-filled scenes come, as you might expect, at the beginning and the end, and they are worth every penny of the ticket price. I have no doubt that it will be rated as one of the better Bond films. The only things I didn’t care for was that the Bond theme was used only briefly at the end.
