Measuring dynamical correlations in quantum magnets with neutron scattering Prof. Alan Tennant, HMI Berlin Quantum magnets provide paradigms of strongly correlated behaviour that have proved an inspiration for condensed matter physics generally from fractionalization of quantum numbers and topological excitations to novel superconductivity mechanisms. Neutron scattering provides an unrivalled experimental tool allowing this physics to be explored in remarkable depth. In this talk I present an overview of the principles involved and current research in this field including examples of quantum phase transitions and novel quantum states.
