The final report of the Inquiry was released by the Australian Government today and is available

2) ICOMITES Gathering in Adelaide
Dinner at the Lion Hotel, North Adelaide, Saturday August 26, 7pm
The ICOMOS Executive Committee is meeting in Adelaide on 26, 27 August for their quarterly
meeting, and a gathering is proposed for members and others for catch up and networking. The
dinner will be held in North Adelaide on the above date. We have booked a table for 30 people,
and arranged for a fixed price dinner (no separate accounts are available). The cost for 2 courses
will be $45 pre paid. So first in will secure a seat to a great evening!!! with great food, at one of
Adelaide’s best restaurants.

Before the dinner at 5.15 pm there will be an ICOMOS China Slides memoirs night
A video and power point show of the Xian General Assembly held in October 2005 is to be
shown by visiting EC members who attended with drinks and nibbles and lively discussion about
this interesting event. These “Chinese Memoirs” evenings have been held in other states to great
acclaim!! This gathering will allow members and others to experience the work of ICOMOS
internationally and to see images and hear enthusiastic descriptions of the heritage sites visited by
ICOMITES as part of the conference and post conference tours. This will be held at the offices

4) Forum on the Heritage Values of the Dampier Rock
Art Precinct
(The Dampier archipelago)

Hear a range of eminent speakers present and discuss the issues surrounding the World’s most
significant petroglyph (rock art) site. Many thousands of pieces of rock art have so far been
destroyed as a consequence of industrial development. Further destruction or relocation of rock
art is planned.

5) Godden Mackay Logan Announcements!
The team at GML is pleased to share the following news with ICOMOS colleagues:
Peter Romey has been appointed as a new Senior Associate at Godden Mackay Logan. Now
based in Sydney, Peter has served a term of nearly 7 years as Director of Conservation and
Infrastructure at the iconic Port Arthur Historic Site; a period during which the site has undergone
a significant program of conservation works. Prior to this, Peter was Area Manager for Heritage
at the City of Sydney and held senior positions in the then NSW Heritage Branch, as well as
having extensive experience in private practice. He is currently Vice President of Australia
ICOMOS.
Anne Mackay, Claire Geary and Tracy Ireland have been appointed Associates and Christina
Kanellaki Lowe is now a Senior Consultant. Anne is known to many archaeological ICOMITE
colleagues as the Excavation Director of the Fitzroy Ironworks site at Mittagong.Formerly the
Executive Officer at Hornsby Council, Claire has been the GML Operations Manager for 5 years
and recently completed an MBA, along the way receiving the Chief Executive Women
Scholarship. Tracy is familiar to ICOMOS members for her publications on historical
archaeology, social value and the socio-politics of archaeology and heritage. Tracy leads GML's
new Canberra office. Christina is a built heritage specialist and active member of the Historic
Buildings Committee of the National Trust of Australia (NSW).

10) Getty Scholar Program
Getty Conservation Guest Scholar Program for 2007-2008
The Conservation Guest Scholar Program at the Getty Conservation Institute supports new ideas
and perspectives in the field of conservation, with an emphasis on the visual arts (including sites,
buildings, objects) and the theoretical underpinnings of the field.
The program provides an opportunity for professionals to pursue scholarly research in an
interdisciplinary manner across traditional boundaries in areas of wide general interest to the
international conservation community.
These grants are for established conservators, scientists, and professionals who have attained
distinction in conservation and allied fields. Grants are not intended to fund research for the
completion of an academic degree.

Manager Heritage Collections
The National Trust of South Australia is seeking a Manager for its Heritage Collections
The National Trust of South Australia is seeking an individual with passion and commitment to
advise and assist branches with the management of the NTSA’s heritage collection assets in
metropolitan and regional South Australia.
If you have knowledge and experience in collections matters as well as working with
volunteers/community groups, preparing policy papers and funding submissions coupled with
good communication skills and interpersonal ability, we would like to hear from you.
Appropriate qualifications and an ability to prepare quality written material, including project
reporting are essential.
Exposure to working with the ‘not for profit’ sector would be advantageous.
An attractive salary is offered. The appointment is for an initial two year period.
