Role: Learning Programme Co-ordinator (Inspiring Beauty – No 7) Nature of Contract: 181 hours October/November – April, worked in line with proposed learning activity preparation and support Fee: £3450 inclusive of all expenses Key Relationships: NLA Director; NLA Marketing Officer; Boots Archivist; Senior Archivist (Academic and Public Engagement) Manuscripts & Special Collections Purpose of the Role: To devise and deliver a successful programme of public engagement activities which complement the forthcoming exhibition Inspiring Beauty developed in partnership with Boots. The exhibition will celebrate 80 years of No7, and this post will target a broad audience of alumni, community groups, senior citizens groups, school and college groups, University students and staff, with a view to extending audience engagement. Schedule of Services: Plan and deliver a range of workshops, talks, and guided tours to increase access to the Weston Gallery/ Manuscripts & Special Collections programme Prepare resource information in support of participatory activities as required Liaise with appropriate NLA or Weston Gallery/Manuscripts & Special Collections staff to ensure that all programme opportunities are appropriately marketed and listed on box office Attend at least one NLA Learning team meeting to share information about new Weston Gallery learning programme Undertake appropriate evaluation of all sessions with a view to informing future event/activity planning Ensure all participation is appropriately recorded and notified to Learning & Access Administrator Ensure all provision adheres to Child Protection/Vulnerable Adults and Risk Assessment Frameworks, and to Health and Safety requirements Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications & Experience Qualifications/ Education Skills/Training Essential Degree in an Arts/Humanities subject Professional knowledge of related discipline such as education, community, Desirable Teaching qualification Archives/Museum/Heritage Studies qualification Experience Statutory/Legal archives/museum/heritage studies Workshop delivery Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to relate to people at all levels Excellent oral and written communication skills, including presentation skills Report writing Ability to work as a team member Knowledge of relevant legal requirements (Child Protection/Health & Safety etc) Computer literate (word/email) Demonstrable experience of workshop delivery with schools and community groups Working with curatorial staff, professional and amateur artists Training and developing others Demonstrable experience of risk assessment DBS Experience of working in a University and with University students Additional Information The Weston Gallery in based in the D H L Pavilion in Nottingham Lakeside Arts, located close to the South entrance to the University of Nottingham’s University Park campus. Exhibitions in the gallery are curated by staff from Manuscripts and Special Collections using material from the University’s collections of unique archival material and rare published works. The Manuscripts and Special Collections section is based on the University’s King’s Meadow Campus. Page 2 of 2
