The GME Office will be moving forth by putting together a draft. Please send Kerrie Jordan information about your program in order for her to put this draft together and send back to you and the Program Director for approval. REMINDER ~ Paperwork required for all outside Rotators The new form introduced at the September 21, 2006, meeting, “The Children’s Mercy Hospital Resident/Fellow Information Form,” must be completed by all rotating residents and fellows, excluding those who rotate from KU. The agreement CMH and KU have is that they will provide a copy of the rotators KU GME Application, Missouri license, BNDD, and occupational health report on vaccinations. All documents for rotators must be provided to the GME Office prior to the resident/fellow arriving at CMH. Supporting documents include, but are not limited to, a copy of the residents/fellows Missouri Medical License, BNDD, TB results and ECFMG (as applicable). New mandate is that if the information is not received by the GME Office at least 1 week prior to the scheduled rotation, the rotator will not be allowed to start. 1 Fellowship Coordinator’s Meeting February 8, 2007; Hiways Meeting Minutes New Innovations Training Dates New software to track resident, fellows, rotators, and medical students is in the final stages of implementation and training is scheduled for February 20, 21, & 22, 2007 at Hallmark building from 8:30am to 5:00pm. All Program Coordinators are required to attend. Snacks, beverages, and lunch will be provided. The CMH white van is available to transportation to the Hallmark building ever 15 minutes from the main entrance of the hospital. All Program Directors are encouraged to attend the 2nd day of training for the evaluations portion. If your Program Director attends, he/she will be asked to share your work station and computer due to limited space availability. Contracts & Information for New Fellows The GME Office has revamped the Housestaff Agreements (contracts) for fellowships. They are now called Fellow Agreements (contracts) and include the 20 ACGME requirements. The GME Office has also developed a standard benefits page for all fellows that will be included in the new fellow packets sent out by the GME Office. If your program has supplemental (additional) benefits, an explanation must be attached to the Fellow Agreement. Kerrie will incorporate any additions into the benefits attachment. The GME Office started sending out packets to all new fellows who are starting their fellowship on or after July 1, 2007. Please send copy of the initial acceptance letter to Kerrie Jordan in the GME Office. Once she receives this letter, she will send out the packet of information to the new fellow. The welcome packet includes a welcome letter, Contract, Missouri License application, DEA Application, BNDD Application, contract, and HR paperwork. All materials will be returned to the GME Office. New Fellow Orientation New Fellow Orientation is scheduled for July 2nd & 3rd, 2007. The contents of the orientation will be the same as last year. Logistics for orientation are being finalized within the next few months. When the orientation agenda is finalized, it will be shared with all Program Coordinators. Questions/Comments/Announcements Pediatric Surgery’s next site visit is scheduled for May 21, 2007. Developmental/Behavioral Pediatrics next site visit is scheduled for June 6, 2007. Pediatric Rehabilitation Medicine’s next site visit is scheduled for April 5, 2007. 2 Fellowship Coordinator’s Meeting February 8, 2007; Hiways Meeting Minutes Fellows may apply for “instructor” appointment at UMKC School of Medicine. GME office has the needed paper work. Please contact Kerrie Jordan or Ravi Kallur. REMINDER- When you have outside residents, fellows, and medical students who are interested in rotating to CMH, please check with the GME Office to see if an affiliation or clinical participation agreement is in place for the Hospital, institution, or medical school they are rotating from. An affiliation agreement must be in place before any outside resident or fellow can rotate to CMH. A clinical participation agreement must be in place before any medical student can rotate to CMH. If your program plans on advertising for a vacant fellowship position, please notify the GME Office.
