NURSERY
SHORT TERM WEEKLY PLANNING
AUTUMN TERM 1 WEEK 6
REFLECTIONS/NEXT STEPS
“…”: letter sound assessment. “…” was playing in dough last week, and calling out names of some letter shapes.
Eagles phonics group: continue to encourage all children to join in with group songs, rhymes and actions. Physical Development was
a good link, and we did as much phonics as possible outside. LAs working on concentration; did well when this was a focus last
week.
INDOOR ENHANCEMENT –
Fine motor: threading leaves: “ …”loved threading numbers.
Autumn puppets and positional language puppets in sound station. Autumn flashcards with vocabulary and picture clue, to read
together with the children.
Dot to dot leaves in writing area: encourage the children to choose a colour, and to fill in their shapes, too.
Easel: brown paint on a plate: use thumbs to paint a tree, then finger tips to ‘dot’ leaves on to branches from other plates of
paint.
Pine cones in sand
Junk boxes in workshop: with Mrs Stoddard. This is a new skill in Nursery for the children. I feel they will benefit from some
adult guidance.
Play dough: make hedgehogs by ‘snipping’ dough with scissors. Guide children to hold the scissors in a natural grip.
Sand: paint numbers on to conkers using acrylic paint. Encourage the children to name and recognize the numerals.
Construction: 2d or 3d shape blocks: “ …” spending time making detailed arrangements with shapes.
